Our Local Merch

We know we like to bang on about it, but in case you have somehow missed this very important information, Roake Studio is based in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight. It’s from our little studio here on the southern tip of the Island that we make-to-order the garments in our main collection. You can see us in action if you come and visit our shop - we’re open Monday 12pm-4pm, Tuesday-Thursday 10am-4pm and Saturday 10am-2pm.

We love living on this little Island. It’s a designated UNESCO Biosphere, which means it’s incredibly beautiful and deservedly protected. But we’re also very keen on the fact that each town and area has its own distinct personality, which is why we wanted to celebrate with some local merch. We’re about to bring in an oversized option of our popular printed tees, and we’ve just taken delivery of some very cool indeed baseball caps. They’re all responsibly sourced, of course, and our T-shirts are even printed in the neighbouring town of Cowes. Take a closer look!

Ventnor cap

Our new caps are certified by the Better Cotton Initiative and REACH, which means no harmful chemicals were used in their production. They’re available in beige with pink embroidery, or pink with blue embroidery, and are already a big hit with both locals and tourists (or grockles, as we call them).

Ventnor tee

Our Ventnor tees boast an illustration of the dramatic cascade down to the sea, penned by Rosie’s husband Will (as all of our illustrations are). It’s available in three colours - oat, chocolate and green.

Shanklin tee

Shanklin tee, £25

Shanklin is a proper old school seaside town, with a quaint village and huge sandy beaches. This illustration features the impressive brutalist design lift, which takes passengers 45m up or down from the sea front to the cliff at the top.

Hovercraft tee

We had to celebrate the world’s only surviving commercial hovercraft with this one, because it’s not only the coolest way to travel, it’s the quickest way to get across the water from the mainland.

West Wight tee

West Wight is the less populated, more rugged side of the Island, with huge surf-friendly beaches and our iconic landmark, The Needles. You might recognise this row of three stacks of chalk, as it’s one of the most photographed groups of rocks in the world.

Isle of Wight Seashell Collectors Club tee

Inspired by beach finds, it’s our Sea Shells Collectors Club T-shirt. The Island’s beaches are an absolute treasure trove, and you’ll even find dinosaur footprints on some of them.
