Laura Slater X Roake Studio 'Landlines' Collaboration
Landlines is a collaborative project between womenswear brand Roake Studio and textile designer Laura Slater.
The collection celebrates creative connections, regardless of geographic location.
‘Landlines’ honours natural landmarks in both Yorkshire and the Isle of Wight to inspire timeless print and pattern, with flexible and trans-seasonal garments.
The collection is hand screen printed in Yorkshire, and constructed in our studio on the Isle of Wight, using entirely UK sourced and produced natural and sustainable materials.
The pandemic has cut our connections physically, but allowed us to extend our reach digitally and build new relationships. An intense connection with our local environments has inspired us to share our experiences and studio practices with one-another, 300 miles apart.
All materials and processes in this collection have been sourced from suppliers local to each of us, or made in-house. With reduced mileage, sustainable fabric and ink choices, and support for makers and tradespeople in our respective neighbourhoods.

Process I Pattern I Print I Product
Laura Slater has been developing her studio practice as a textile design practitioner since graduating from the Royal College of Art in 2007.
The engagement we have with pattern and its ability to connect us with the environments and objects around us is the main focus of Laura’s approach to design.
Laura applies her print and pattern onto objects for the home and to wear, with a desire to reinforce the significance of textile and pattern design as a vehicle for our engagement with art as part of the everyday.
Utilising traditional production methods of screen-print as design and image making tools, process and drawing are central to the development of her distinctive textiles and printed objects.
She runs her design and print studio from West Yorkshire.
